Kiss the Girls with Morgan Freeman and Ashley Judd.

Had never seen this before, and was watching with the wife, soon as I saw a certain actor appear for the first time in the story, I said aloud "Its him isn't it?"
She then asks how the Hell did I know that, to which I replied "is it not plainly obvious?"

Yeah I can't watch Hollywood shit anymore. Back to Chinese Gangster films for me.

My wife just started watching a movie called "CBGB." Within the first minute I saw, there was a glaring historical falsehood. I walked out of the room. Avoid.

NOTE: Ha!! I just google'd the film to make sure I got the title right, and one of the first links to pop is this article, from the Village Voice of all places:

10 THINGS THE CBGB MOVIE GOT WRONG

A crabby old man is right again,

Just saw Alejandro Jodorowsky's latest, "The Dance of Reality." It's surprisingly straightforward comparatively speaking, but still is every bit a Jodorowsky film. I will say though he gets away with some really messed up stuff. Let's just say I hope the actors got what they needed in one take. It's also very shocking sometimes as an American to see something clearly produced from a different era, mindset, and part of the world that would never, ever fly in an American Production (at least I don't think). It was pretty great all in all.

Sherlock Holmes: A Game Of Shadows
I approached this one with trepidation being a big fan of the AC Doyle stories & the Jeremy Brett tv series since my youth. I have never seen the first one in this, what looks to be, trilogy. I enjoyed it tremendously, much to my surprise. Prejudgment can be self-defeating at times. That being said, the style of filmmaking it employs owes a great deal to the French film 'Vidocq', which is a fictional tale about the real-life detective Vidocq upon whom all subsequent fictional detectives (including Sherlock Holmes) were directly or indirectly derived from. Not necessarily a bad thing, but "just saying".

Captain Phillips , directed by Paul Greengrass (2013)

No special effects , only the facts from this true story .
Love it . Tom Hanks is a monster .

La Belle et la BÍte , directed by Christophe Gans (2014)

so far from the Masterpiece of Jean Cocteau, but ok to watch ..
Lea Seydoux is anything but romantic and Vincent Cassel will never be a great actor

I watched a really, really horrible movie the night before last: The Legend of Hercules. Although I saw it through to the end, I cannot recommend it.

I've been watching (& re-watching!) the Magical Egypt series by John Anthony West in 8 parts. It's been a companion of mine for a year now.

...it's a low budget documentary with grand ideas, & I recommend it to anyone with an interest in History & alternative viewpoints towards the study of it.

Guardians of the Galaxy.

Even though I'm an old comic nerd displaced about two decades, I had very little knowledge of how this ties into the Marvel Universe, but damn....well done film, and highly recommended.

Also, the new Planet of the Apes was decent. They did a great job with the score as it used old school 70's inspiration and in some places felt like watching one of the old films late at night as a kid.

Oh, and here's Deadful Melody One of the most bat shit crazy, and entertaining, films from Hong Kong in my collection. A magic Lyre is highly sought after with the power to send out destructive waves of killing power when played properly. Will not disappoint if given time.

Runaway Train directed by Andrei Konchalovsky - 1985

Jon Voight is Manny, a prisoner escaped from a penitentiary , lost in the heart of Alaska, with the intention of not returning .
Icy, unbreakable, unstoppable. so are Manny and driverless crazy Train that will transport him during this fantastic escape.
A '80s cult action movie .
