I'm still amazed, and on top of that, it's been work in progress tattoo for one of my buddies (Papa Midnight on the forum). I'll see if I can get him to post.

Amazing forces at work here, that he's getting portions of "Vlad Tepes" and now EP has that as its cover.

I'm sure he woke up this morning to read the news and blew up Laughing

The level of brilliance and the origin of that darkness in that painting is well beyond my comprehension.

The level of darkness in all of Giger's early work is mindblowing.

Dude, how did you feel when you saw the press release for the art???

Now what made you choose that one?

I think this goes for coincidence of the year!

Here's another one as well! No need for that "sheepishly raises hand" thing, Knuck', as your previous well-elaborated post surely contained some decent reasoning and is pretty close to what I was thinking after yesterday's press release.

Honestly: When i saw the cover art i new that there´s again something more that connects me to this whole thing. I´m into this whole Hellhammer/ CF / Triptykon thing since the early 80s and never gave up...I saw CF live in 86 the first time...travelled to Switzerland to see the Giger expos in Chur and Gruyeres...and felt like home every single time. Childish, hm? But true...

Hah, I was wrong, I never expected to see H.R. Giger's work on the cover of Tom's album again hehehe... I'm totally positively disappointed, if such a retoric figure exists in english language Wink

You are free to change the rules of retorics whenever you like.

Well, that was me. And I cannot deny I am more than surprised that Warrior goes the save way here. Anyway I am just as happy with the decision. I mean I wouldn´t have chosen for the name GigerFrost if I wouldn´t identify with the morbid combination of Giger and Frost, would I?

Interesting how CF has influenced many of us from back in the 80's.

Later on we got 'Monsters of Rock' on Sky Channel with Amanda Redington... Damn, she was hot... But she was very interested in more extreme metal and frequently videos were shown. That's where I saw the video for 'Circle of the Tyrants' for the first time. In Holland we were depending on VPRO radio, that broadcasted every wednesday afternoon, and they were the only ones back then that didn't play the hitparade shit. KRO radio later on joined in with 'De hardste vijf van Nederland' (the heaviest five of The Netherlands), and in the more distant past we had Stampij as a hardrock/metal show and 'Beton' with Alfred Lagarde from the Vara radio. At the end of the eighties we got Vara's Vuurwerk on the tuesday evening. It was hosted by Henk Westbroek, the singer of a Dutch popband called 'Het Goede Doel'(The right cause), whose guitarist didn't even use a distortion... And he made some mistakes... Like playing Project Mars and saying it was King Diamond...

But indeed, no MTV and no internet... And hearing about these bands, it was all underground. Someone heard this shit and got you a tape of this. All by snail mail. Damn, looking back at it, I nearly get homesick.

I am feeling very young now. I was born in 78, so -although I did pick up on Star Wars passionately, the rest was way over my head. My mom listened to records all the time, but it was Elvis & motown people. No Hellhammer or Venom. . . .
