Listening to 'Abyss within my Soul' right now... I am NOT disappointed... First impressions:
- Norman totally owns TCD/DMJ
- Vanja is a superb bassplayer!
- The overall sound of the song is darker than anything I heard on 'Monotheist'...
Indeed V-Ger: Santa has come... _________________ Nitimur in vetitum semper cupimusque negata |

I fucking love this song. It's dark, raw, and powerful. And like we mentioned, Norman is a fantastic drummer and knew how to complement the music very well, and absolutely, Vanja and V. Santura seem to have an incredible chemistry, not only in playing together, but adding to the songs what they appear to need, and even a bit more without turning into Dream Theater and wanking mindlessly for an hour.
I'm also surprised to not hear more comments (at this time) about V. Santura's vocals. At first, which I suffer great embarassment for, I exclaimed about how "WOW, REAL WARRIOR", listening to the song on my laptop's shitty speakers, only to later realize in class, on better equipment, that it was NOT Tom. I was corrected later, but the excitement and embarassment were intertwined
However, that's where the comment I made about Tom's vocals being complemented, or "helped" came from. I think V's vocals are a fantastic complement. They both have not exactly a similar sound, but seem to complement each other in such a way that they aren't "fighting" for the sound. I wish I could explain it better, but maybe some of you guys feel that way?
...and the "tragic" vocals are back!!! _________________ www.triptykon.net

I woke up this morning to find an instant message waiting for me from Dr. Morbid, telling me of the new songs. I sat down and listened to them and I am blown away. Excited is a word that I rarely use when it comes to music these days, but I am very excited about the new album. Hell I practically broke down the songs and gave a full in depth review on instant messenger with Dr. Morbid. |

Should we open a 'Give Praise to Norman'-thread? Or can there be a feature built in the Triptykon site which allows us to throw darts at TCD? _________________ Nitimur in vetitum semper cupimusque negata |

Told you guys so
Now where's J-loop???
Lots of bands are set to release albums sometime in 2010, so there will be a lot of competition. However, if the rest of the album shapes up like what we heard, this will likely be BIG. In a sense, a second comeback album for Tom, after Monotheist.
IMO, the music quality and the tightness of their playing is perhaps in no small part due to their hunger to be musicians. Many of us saw the contrast between Tom and DMJ at the end of the documentary, where Tom, without any reservations, said he was a musician, plain and simple, while DMJ complained about how this dream was a "nightmare". In contrast, I'm sure pouring beers while talking about once being an internationally touring, headlining musician has been a dream for many of us, right?
Regardless, I'm figuring Tom assembled people, who like him, are hungry to make music, be musicians, and drive the concepts forward, rather than holding them back. Many musicians lose that "youthful" drive as they get older, but apparently, not here. _________________ www.triptykon.net

For now I am satisfied. But I might become hungrier for more! With the releasedate set in march 2010, I guess that the promo's will be given out in february, so I just have to wait two more months... _________________ Nitimur in vetitum semper cupimusque negata |
