There's certainly a bit of tongue-in-cheek there. C'mon guys, even CF showed humor now and again, no? I can see why someone might see this as being disrespectful, but I'm certain that it's more along the lines of artistic worship. Worth a chuckle at least.

It says they're from Switzerland, but I *suspect* that the drummer from NunSlaughter might be behind this, it sounds like his voice, and they're listed as being on "Nunslaughter Records"... But that's just a guess, so don't quote me on it, ok? One thing I *can* say is, NunSlaughter are huge HH/CF fans for sure, and really great guys.

All the best,
PAULIE

I really quite like it, if I'm honest.

In its own goofy way, it's really not bad. It's very difficult in the 'extreme' metal scene to ascertain whether certain artists are taking themselves serious or not.

In this case, it's rather clear. I mean, just look at the logo!

Have Scepter from Chicago already been mentioned?

They have a great frost-inspired vibe to them, I also had to think of Slaughter (Can) quite a bit while listening to Fucking Metal Motherfuckers who in turn were very influenced by Hellhammer... maybe the vibe is the other way round... opinions? Wink

As I think of it: Several bands from the Chicago area seem to dig CF very much, check out early Usurper and all the early Speckmann stuff - Death Strike, Abomination, Master... there is other stuff going on in these records of course, but they have that powerful "chunky" riffing.

Although I can't blame Nordic Mist for trying to keep the CF flames burning somehow, I must admit, the vocals are a bit too much. The vocalist tried to take every subtle nuance of Tom's old vocal style and mish-mash it into a pretty sorry-sounding imitation. The part mentioned where he utters "The Conqueror of The Undead King! The Conqueror of the UhhhhhDiiiiDeeeDlllleeeh!!" makes me think someone punched him in the danglies while he was singing. It sounds more comedic than I'm sure was intended.

All the same, I myself have toyed with the idea of doing a CF tribute band many, many times. I never got to see them until 2006 and while I'm glad to have seen them at all, I would've much more preferred the older sound I came to love in the first place.

I found a new band that has this special Celtic Frost vibe, especially the slow doomy parts of Morbid Tales.

Its Salute from Bristol/UK.

Check out the song "Shredding Belt". What happens >3:00min drives me nuts every time I listen to this. Absolutely stunning. Their CD is currently blocking my HiFi (together with two other CDs from the same label Witches Brew, namely the new phenomenal Scythe CD - that's like Anarcrusis on a higher level - and Torture Pulse which is Swedish Death Metal in the vein of Demonical/Fleshcrawl and done really really well).

Listening to the album "The Underground" by SALUTE... and it's quite awesome... It's got that old-school Celtic Frost touch... Smile

I have seen them in the Zaandijker Kerk at the beginning of the nineties or end 1989, and they sucked bigtime...

Looks like something Mr.Giger did when he was 5 years old.

Nordic Mist ? Sounds like a woman's light beer.

. . Or a very cheap bottle of perfume. The cover above is obviously a tribute to Giger; it is not too bad. It cops that old illustration of 'Baphomet' from an Eliphas Levi book as well. . .
