November 27, 2006 - CONCLUSION OF NORTH AMERICAN TOUR

On the occasion of the conclusion of the 2006 North American leg of Celtic Frost's "Monotheist" tour, we would like to pause for a moment to thank the many who made this massive undertaking possible.

We wish to pay tribute to the extraordinary audiences we were granted to play for and encounter during our 46 concerts in the United States and Canada. Never before in the band's history have we been made to feel so welcome and respected. We particularly wish to thank the many who attended multiple tour dates, from two to what we believe is the current record, ten concerts.

We are further deeply indebted to our crew, each member of which has gone far beyond the call of duty to ensure each day that Celtic Frost were able to exercise onstage the required musical darkness. Gratitude and respect is also due to our special guests and friends 1349, Sahg, Sunn O))), and Goatwhore. In conclusion, we feel deeply honored to have been able to welcome to our shows many of our peers and friends, among them former Celtic Frost drummer Reed St. Mark.

The Frost bows to all of you.

This was Celtic Frost's first tour of North America in over 17 years. As currently intended, we will return to the United States and Canada, after the group concludes the currently scheduled tours in Japan and Europe in the first half of 2007.

Giger/Celtic Frost "Satan I/To Mega Therion" merchandise being produced for both the current tour as well as being made available at www.celticfrost.com beginning in November.

September 13, 2006 - CELTIC FROST PRESS RELEASE

Celtic Frost Comment on First Night Performance - Celtic Frost launched their North American tour last night at Springfield's Jaxx. Commenting on the first of the venue's two shows, vocalist/guitarist Tom Gabriel Fischer had this to say:

"The commencement of our first North American tour in 17 years couldn't have been more fitting and symbolic. The aura of the concert, and our audience's reaction, surpassed even what we experienced during the recent string of European festival appearances. It was also a huge honor for us to perform for former Celtic Frost drummer Reed St. Mark, who came down from his hometown of New York to see us. Reed was instrumental in crafting the music that has made this band what it is. One of our fans later expressed that our generosity was worth everything. But we felt that it was the audience's generosity which made the five-year struggle to release a new album and bring our band back on the road over here truly worthwhile."

Find pictures from the show at the Jaxx website here.

Renewed H.R. Giger/Celtic Frost Collaboration -

To celebrate their legendary collaboration and enduring friendship, renown Swiss surrealist artist H.R. Giger and Celtic Frost proudly announce the exclusive introduction of a line of specially created "To Mega Therion" album merchandise featuring H.R. Giger's acclaimed "Satan I" painting.

In late 1983, H.R. Giger proposed to Tom Gabriel Fischer and Martin Eric Ain, then still in Hellhammer, the free use of "Satan I" for an album cover, on the condition that the band would refrain from making any other commercial use of the painting, particularly for merchandising. Fischer and Ain later expanded upon the concept of Hellhammer to form, in June 1984, Celtic Frost, and the painting was eventually used for the cover of Celtic Frost's legendary "To Mega Therion" album in 1985. The band never broke the oath made to H.R. Giger.

In 2006, H.R. Giger thus kindly granted the Celtic Frost the use of "Satan I" as an oversize backdrop for the band's larger shows.

To commemorate their long-standing collaboration and the band's strict compliance with H.R. Giger's wishes, H.R. Giger and Celtic Frost have decided to release, for the very first time ever, an official line of exclusive "Satan I"/"To Mega Therion" t-shirts, hoodies, and longsleeves. This merchandise has been designed in accordance with H.R. Giger's comprehensive instructions, and it has been personally approved by the artist.

This is the only official "Satan I"/"To Mega Therion" merchandise worldwide, and it is being manufactured to the highest possible standards. Any "Satan I"/"To Mega Therion" merchandise not purchased either through Celtic Frost's webstore or from the official merchandising booth at Celtic Frost's concerts is bootleg merchandise and neither legal nor licensed by H.R. Giger.

Celtic Frost Concert Footage - Celtic Frost's sold-out concert at the Mean Fiddler in London on August 19, 2006, was filmed for broadcast by Redemption TV (http://www.redemptiontv.com). This show marked Celtic Frost's return to England after 16 long years, and the audience had come to celebrate the occasion in uproarious style at the packed and blisteringly hot venue at the heart of London. The only source of mild discontent was the Mean Fiddler's strict early curfew, which forced Celtic Frost to play an abbreviated set. Said Tom Gabriel Fischer: "We are going to make up for this when we return for the proper European tour in early 2007".

Also filmed was Celtic Frost's epic and universally acclaimed nightly headliner performance (Kerrang! magazine: "absolute, spellbinding metal perfection") at the giant Wacken Open Air festival in Germany on August 4, 2006. This footage is scheduled to be broadcast as part of the legendary Rockpalast series on German TV (http://www.rockpalast.de).

July 27, 2006 - CELTIC FROST PRESS RELEASE

"Monotheist" release in Japan - Celtic Frost are proud to announce the release of the group's new album "Monotheist" on July 26, 2006, through JVC. The Japanese version of the album contains the bonus track "Incantation against You", our first pure acapella recording (available as a vinyl-only bonus track for the rest of the world). "Incantation Against You" was recorded by our longtime female studio vocalist Simone Vollenweider, backed only by a male choir. The song was inspired by Mesopotamian ritual writings of banishment and the "Maklu" text in the Necronomicon; it was written by Martin Eric Ain and Simone Vollenweider.

Second edition of "Monotheist" vinyl - Century Media have decided to issue the second pressing of the vinyl version of Celtic Frost's "Monotheist" album in clear vinyl and abandon the previous plans for picture discs. This decision was taken in order to keep the price of the new vinyl edition within affordable limits. This new second pressing of the "Monotheist" vinyl will be limited to 1000 copies worldwide.

+

Exclusive Celtic Frost live performance - Celtic Frost feel very honoured to be able to announce a special pre-European tour concert in London to celebrate the group's unique long-standing bond with England. Celtic Frost will perform one of the group's extraordinarily dark services of worship at London's Mean Fiddler on August 19, 2006. This will be our first concert in England - location of the very last Celtic Frost concert in May 1990 - in over 16 years. We will be accompanied by guests Cryptopsy, Gorerotted, and She Said Destroy.

+

Celtic Frost festival shows - We have been notified by the organizers of Bulgaria's second Monsters of Rock festival that the festival has been cancelled after experiencing severe last-minute changes to the terms and conditions agreed upon between the festival and the city Varna, location of the festival. We sincerely regret this development of events. We are particularly disappointed because this summer's festival appearances by Celtic Frost have been unique and electrifying. During the past three weeks, Celtic Frost played at Germany's With Full Force festival, Finland's Tuska festival, and Greece's Rockwave festival, and we owe deepest gratitude to both the audiences and the festival organizers for what has been a profoundly moving response to our performances. The cancellation of Bulgaria's Monsters of Rock festival might be offset somewhat by the late addition of the For Noise Festival in Lausanne/Pully, Switzerland, to Celtic Frost's concert itinerary. Celtic Frost are set to headline the For Noise festival on August 12, 2006, following the performance of Norway's Motorpsycho. The next festival appearances for Celtic Frost will be the two Metalway festivals in Gernika and Jerez, Spain, on July 29 and 30, 2006, and the subsequent concert at the world's largest heavy metal festival, the Wacken Open Air, Germany, on August 4, 2006.

July 6, 2006 - CELTIC FROST PRESS RELEASE

Celtic Frost are very proud to announce the following support billing for the group's fall 2006 North American tour:

For the first leg of the tour, from September 12 (Springfield, Virginia) to October 2, 2006 (Portland, Oregon), Celtic Frost will be joined by renown Norwegian black metal shooting stars 1349 as well as Norwegian doom supergroup Sahg (featuring some of the most distinguished musicians of Norway's effervescent metal scene, namely members of Manngard and 2005 Norwegian Grammy award winners Audrey Horne as well as former Gorgoroth members King and Kvitrafn). These will be the first North American shows for both 1349 and Sahg.

From October 3 (San Francisco, California) to the end of the tour, on November 11, 2006 (Johnson City, New York), Celtic Frost will be supported by eminent American black/death metal group Goatwhore.

Moreover, Celtic Frost are very proud to be able to announce the addition of American drone/doom stars sunn O))) to the billing for the shows from October 3 (San Francisco, California) to October 9 (Las Vegas, Nevada).

June 26, 2006 - CELTIC FROST NEWS UPDATE

After Celtic Frost's highly regretted cancellation of the group's June 3, 2006, headliner appearance at the Rock Hard festival in Germany due to the emergency hospitalization of singer Tom Gabriel Fischer with an acute renal colic that same day, the band returned to form by playing a triumphant 90 minute headliner show on the Sweden Stage at the prestigious Sweden Rock festival on June 10, 2006, a mere three days after Tom had undergone emergency surgery back in his hometown of Zurich, Switzerland. The reactions to the Sweden Rock performance - as well as to the preceding warm-up concerts - have been exceptional. To quote Martin Carlsson from his review of the festival in the Swedish newspaper Expressen, "it was the best gig in the whole history of the festival".

Celtic Frost and, in particular, Tom Gabriel Fischer would like to express their deepest appreciation for what has been literally a flood of written and verbal "get well" wishes regarding Tom's health and recovery. The support and compassion expressed during the past few weeks by fans, fellow musicians, and individuals from the music industry has been overwhelming and has touched everybody in the Celtic Frost camp deeply. Tom will undergo a further brief surgical procedure in the course of July, but he has been recovering well, as evidenced by Celtic Frost's recent live shows. Tom Gabriel Fischer: "I am stunned, humbled, and very grateful about all the personal messages received".

The band are now continuing their scheduled festival appearances across Europe, having just performed on the "Hard N'Heavy Stage" at the Hellfest festival in Nantes, France. Due to the festival's policy, even as a co-headliner Celtic Frost were only able to play a 45 minute set, and the group is looking forward to the opportunity of playing the full 90 minute plus set for Celtic Frost's French fans when properly touring Europe in early 2007.

Celtic Frost's next concerts will take place on June 30, 2006, at the With Full Force festival in Leipzig, Germany, and on July 2, 2006, at the Tuska Festival in Helsinki, Finland.

The original pressing of the vinyl version of Celtic Frost's new album "Monotheist" has sold out in record time. Century Media are thus shortly producing a further pressing of the vinyl double album, which will be distinguished from the first edition by containing picture discs with the images of the band's members, as featured in the artwork to "Monotheist".

February 18, 2006 - THE OFFERING

Celtic Frost and Erol Unala have chosen separate paths on the verge of the release of their new album, titled "Monotheist". Unala, a long-time collaborator in Apollyon Sun with Celtic Frost founding member Tom Gabriel Fischer, has been a crucial factor in the renaissance of Swiss avant-garde extreme metal band, Celtic Frost.

The necessity of this sacrifice became evident during the creation of "Monotheist". The obligation to his biological family, the responsibility he took on as a patriarch, has led him to lose sight of this family in spirit. We should not blame him. But we did. We have failed to lead him back to the fold, and this lost son did not find his way home. Proof of his creativity will always remain with us in the form of "Monotheist", though.

The greater the sacrifice, the more the loss will be felt. This responsibility is ours. Although the separation has lit the pyre and the smoke is rising, we all feel bound by the code of honor that our past decrees.

Will our God accept this offering?

Only death is real!

Tom Gabriel Fischer, Martin Eric Ain, Franco Sesa.

Four years in the making, the album is formed around brilliant conceptual lyrical ideas. January 19, 2006 - SANCTUARY APPROACHES CELTIC FROST AGAIN

Once again, Celtic Frost's former record company, the Sanctuary Group (formerly Noise Records), has approached the band's management with the intention of compiling and releasing a Celtic Frost/Hellhammer anthology and re-releasing the band's older albums. The timing of this approach couldn't be more revealing:

"From: Steve Hammonds, Sanctuary Group
Sent: Wednesday, January 04, 2006 1:06 PM
To: Antje Lange
Subject: FW: frost

Hi Antje

We are looking at upgrading some of the Noise catalogue this year. One of the bands we'd like to work on is Celtic Frost whom I think you still manage. There seems to be a lot of interest in the band at the moment and I would like to capitalise on it.

I know there has been some friction between the band and Sanctuary in the past and though I don't think I can sort out the management issues that occurred I can promise that the records side will treat the artists material with all the respect it deserves. We won't issue anything without full audio and art approval, everything will be run by the band.

If you would like I'm happy to meet up with Tom and discuss how to move this project forward so all parties are happy, also I would like to stress nothing has been done regarding track listings etc this is just a first pass at getting the catalogue going.

Reading the [letter by the band of February 19, 2004,] which is still on the bands website I would still like to stress I had never intended to compile or not consult the band on an anthology as this is not the way we do things here.

Regards
Steve"

--------------------

The following is Celtic Frost's response, as sent through the band's manager, Antje Lange, on January 13, 2005:

"Dear Steve

Thank you for your mail of January 5, 2006, regarding the exploitation of Celtic Frost's back catalogue.

I indeed do manage Celtic Frost and have discussed the contents of your mail with the band. They have informed me in no uncertain terms that they have no interest whatsoever in a perpetual reconstruction of what are by now legendary and classic albums. They feel that this is too transparent a way to proceed and that it will result in a loss of credibility. These feelings are unrelated to their past history with the Sanctuary Group.

In short, the band have made two points:

- Their opinion on the necessity of an anthology remains strictly unchanged. Should Sanctuary decide to go ahead with such a project, the band expect to be fully involved in all audio and design aspects.

- As far as the individual albums are concerned, the band feel that the official re-issues of their albums of 1999/2000 are the definite Celtic Frost releases and cannot be bettered. They see no reason to alter these albums.

If Sanctuary plans to re-release the individual Celtic Frost albums, the band thus would like to see it to be an unaltered re-release of the 1999/2000 re-issues.

Both the band and myself are at your disposal for further discussions on how you may wish to proceed in consideration of the above.

With best regards
Antje"
