It's amazing, through all these decades, he still continues to be not only current, but still ahead of his time by generations. Through all the years, he still continues to influence many people.

Totally, and I had no idea he turned 70 today.
What can I say but thank you for everything.
Hours and hours of amazement.

Yes, best wishes to H.R. Giger. "Homage to Celtic Frost" was most certainly influenced by him, as I'm sure St would agree!

I wish H.R. Giger more productive years in creating his oeuvre. I will open a little bottle of wine tonight to celebrate!

What Cthulhian snacks would be served on his birthday... Crispy calamares?

I was born in the year that this picture was taken. All I can say is that I am deeply humbled, & give my best wishes to the Master Painter. Happy Incarnation Day!

Yesterday, German/Austrian 3Sat broadcasted a 30minutes special about H.R.Giger at starting time 18:30 (!) which was extremely interesting. I clicked on 3Sat at 18:35h by accident, so I only missed the first 5 minutes.

Very interesting feature.

That sucks. Had I known, I would have recorded it.

Btw- are there/which Giger books discuss themes and his processes?

I own 'ArH+' by Giger and 'www.giger.com', in the latter there are some interesting 3d pics. The 'Vlad Tepes' work is reproduced in 'ArH+', which was published by Taschen Verlag somewhere in the last decade of the twentieth century.
